Everything on the internet is compressed, the qwality isn’t that good but youll get a result.

All computer documents of files are packaged in different formats, native formats.

The format is determent by the software program, such as photoshop, or paint

Graphic files sutch as photos or videos or even artwork, can be reduces in file size by image compression formats but will make them crappy.

Lossy vs Lossless

Graphic formats fall under two camps as listed above.

Lossy image data is “lost” or reduced for smaller file sizes but affects qwality.

Lossless will keep higher qwality, get rid or nearly anything, but file size is bigger

Lossy file formats include jpg, gif, and many more.

Lossless files are for example tif files wich are good for printing in bissnus cards and magasines.

Graphic formats

Tif,Gif, and Jpg are the 3 most commen formats for commen activities such as printing scanning, and display images over the internet

PNG is a commen web format, is high quality and can contain an alpha ( transparency) channel

Each format has its own advantages, and disadvantiges.

File Format TIF

Stand for tagged image format

Common format for desktop publishing print, photo, and graphic desighn

Browser unfriendly.

JPG

Stands for joint photograpghers expert group

Created for digital photography

Is a lossy format

Can reduce file size 10:1 with out sinifigant qwality loss

The level of compression is adjustable

Cannot be animated

Can not make any transparency.

Gif Graphic interchange format

Is best for grapgics or something with flat color tone, sutch as a cartoon

Indexes, makes color chanals 3 to 1 by reducing them

Is adjustable by changing color bit levels from 1 to 8

Contains no dpi (dots per inch) data for printer, not proper format for printing at all.

Know you pixals

Tif and Jpg are best for images with pixals that blend in color

Gifs are best for images with flat even tones or non contiguous pixles
